Seasoned craps players may find this format less appealing due to the altered dynamics and absence of a traditional house bank.
But as a teaching tool and party game, it’s incredibly effective. Beginners love it. They learn the game faster.
And—most importantly—want to play again! And -- DEAL!

Player Bank Craps
No House Bank. No Stress. Just Fun for Beginners.
A beginner-friendly home craps game where players take turns being the bank — and actually *want* to deal.
This version of craps is designed for new players and small home games. On their first exposure to the game, only the Pass Line and True Odds Place Bets are used to keep the game simple and easy to learn.
The Field, Hardways, Dont Pass and Prop Bets will be introduced later as explained in the Beginner’s section of Hosting Home Games on this website.
The goal is simple: make the game easy to learn and fun to play.
“We want ’em drinkin’, not thinkin’ ”
The Player Bank Concept
Traditional casino craps uses a house bank.
In the Player Bank system, the dealer acts as the bank during their turn.
Winning bets are paid from the dealer’s chips, and losing bets are collected by the dealer. All chips stay in circulation among the players, which keeps the game balanced and easy to manage.
Even better, the entire game requires only 400 chips, which easily fit in the same box as the Craps Mat and walls.
Everything fits in the box.
(See video below.)
How Player Bank Gameplay Works
• Each player begins with a $2,000 bankroll
• When it is a player’s turn to deal, that player temporarily becomes the bank
• Winning bets are paid from the dealer’s personal chips
• Losing bets are collected and kept by the dealer
• If the shooter is winning big....
Dealers pull $2000 markers (loans) of
4 purple $500 chips and sell them to players in order to continue to pay the bets during a hot roll
• Dealer markers are in increments of $2000 - no more - Sometimes, dealers pull 10,000 + in markers to pay the bets, it can get crazy fun!
• This is how the high end purple and gold chips are introduced into the game
• Dealers may take unlimited markers while dealing so all winning bets can be paid
• Players who lose their original bankroll may take one $2,000 marker in the 2nd and 3rd rounds (not during the 1st round)
• After a 7-out, the next player becomes the dealer and the bank.
• All markers, dealer & players are paid back at the end of the game
Purpose of the System
Many beginners are nervous about dealing their first time.
Allowing the dealer to keep all losing bets changes the experience. Instead of feeling pressure, players are often eager to deal once they realize the dealer can win while running the game.
As any experenced craps player knows; the craps dealer wins more often than not.
The result is a home-game format that is relaxed, social, and fun for everyone at the table.
