The problem playing craps at home is that (until now) we always played the casino version. The casino style craps game is hard to deal at home with mutable players. The host of a home game is usually the dealer all night or finds someone who is or had been a craps dealer to handle it. The host deprives themselves of kicking back and being a player AND the host is depriving his guests from dealing!

Yes, dealing. Casino craps and home party games are similar in fun and excitement. Where a casino offers a myriad of betting options, a home party game should only offer the basic dice combination true odds the casino gambling game is based upon. The basic game is a simple game.  Casinos complicate the game by adjusting odds to their favor thus making it difficult to deal. 

As you know, the 'house edge' as it's called is necessary for the casino so they can offer security, friendly staff, free beverages, food and lodging not to mention free promotions. (lures) It's a good deal.

In craps, the adjusted odds complicate the game to the point that it takes the average dealer 3-5 years to master. TRUE. I should know, I've been teaching people how to become a professional craps dealer for over 20 years. Not to mention that I've also been working in casinos during that time where a big part of my job is to help players learn the game.

The house edge mathematics is the main reason why craps is not a popular home game. There are other reason also.....

Having hosted many play for fun home dice games, the advice I offer is what works for my games. I learned this by trial and error. One man's opinion. Games I host are streamlined and move at a good pace. Each player shoots and deals a hand per round. This video is in five sections. Section 1 are the general rules of a home game for invited guests. The remaining sections are primarily for the person hosting the game.
